Do you think firearms should be allowed for sale in the uk to applicants who p police checks .?

we have been allowed to shoot in this country until just a few short years ago and gun crime was amongst the lowest in europe and possibly the world so why did we lose the right to use arms after such a good record , i personally think the legitimate gun owners in britain were treat harshly for the actions of one or two nuts who would have killed by some other method had they not had guns.
