The practice of using conjunctions at the beginning of sentences?

I think it's becoming more and more acceptable. It's still considered more professional to begin a sentence with 'however, moreover, thusly, furthermore' than with 'but, and, also'. But with everyday correspondences (I did that just to mess with you), I would consider it preferable to purple prose or run-on sentences.
